Join us for our 5 episode series on graduate applications to economics-related disciplines! We will cover a broad range of topics including a general overview, a non-overwhelming timeline, understanding each of the application components and how to improve them, the dreaded topic of funding, and the underemphasized psychological elements of applying. There will be guest speakers from Economics PhD, Sociology PhD, Masters in Public Policy programs, and more! Hosted by two organizations focused on improving the position of Black people in economics, The Black Economists Network and the Sadie Collective, it will be customized and tailored towards Black students and their experiences.
Episode 3 is one of the most important episodes, as it covers three of the most important application components: the statement of purpose, writing sample, and resume/CV. We will walk through the importance of the statement of purpose and how to write it the way that admissions committees want to see, what the writing sample is and the easiest way to obtain one, and a good structure for an academic resume/CV and how to improve it (a template will also be provided).
